YEAR 6

The Lockdown

Using the online learning sessions was a critical thread for keeping all the Year 6’s together. Our school life and our family life were previously separate but now these two had become one. We all had a new understanding and respect for our family time and our work time. The importance of listening to and supporting others had strengthened and being calm and flexible was the new norm.

Teachers, together with students, were presented with a dizzy array of technical knowledge and equipment e.g. video-wide-based instructions, uploading work using MyEduOnline. We were now one step closer in reaching the new world of learning remotely.

Coping with the unknown! It was strange to be faced with choices of what we wanted to do as well as what we had to do, all at the same time while so much was going on around us. A balance of our day and our thoughts was called for.

We became more responsible for our learning as we faced our daily tasks. It was now up to us to be always organised and checking that we were keeping healthy and having plenty of sleep. Our learning had sharpened its focus as we only had one or two remote learning times per day.

So what have we learnt about ourselves during Lockdown?

We can cope with change.

We can lower our tension or stress by changing our mindset.

We can take responsibility and confidently ask for help when we require it.

We can use a computer at a fast and furious pace.

We’re so much better for having experienced the lockdown.

Do you agree?
